Grounding of Diesel Generator Sets and Noise Control in Generator Rooms Grounding of Diesel Generator Sets 1. Install a grounding terminal within the generator room for grounding backup generator equipment (responsibility of the civil engineering contractor).
2. Run a 40×4 galvanized flat steel conductor from the grounding terminal around the perimeter of the generator room. The generator base, fuel tank, generator control panel, cable trays/ladder racks, etc., must each be connected to this grounding system.
Generator Room Noise Control
The generator room shall implement comprehensive noise control measures including unit silencing and room insulation. Post-treatment environmental noise levels must comply with national standards and local environmental protection authority requirements. Silencing measures include:
1. Install 1500mm-long silencer boxes at air inlets, with air velocity not exceeding 2.5m/s;
2. Install an 1800mm-long silencer box at the exhaust outlet, with air velocity not exceeding 5m/s;
3. Support the generator with vibration isolation springs providing at least 50mm static deflection;
4. Install an engine silencer box, model NARRRE150m or higher;
5. Apply soundproofing and noise reduction treatment to interior walls and ceilings using aluminum ceiling panels with acoustic panels.
Generator Wiring System and Control Circuit Diagram
1. A sufficiently sized critical load distribution wiring diagram must be displayed in a wooden frame with a transparent panel and affixed in a conspicuous location within the generator room.
2. One set of control circuit diagrams must be stored inside the control panel.
Generator Warning Sign
A warning sign must be provided, written in both Chinese and English with a font height of no less than 50mm, stating: “ATTENTION: ENGINE STARTS AUTOMATICALLY WITHOUT WARNING. DO NOT COME CLOSE.” It must be affixed in a conspicuous location within the generator room.
